SiteManager: Deliver Your Content Directly Into Applets. Technology White Paper By: Mark R. Stahl. Applets are used to create exciting effects on a web site. Some of the common applets include scrolling text, text moving across the screen, and a combination of scroll and click. When working with an applet, it is often necessary to edit raw and complex looking documents to change content. As a user you are not able to make any changes on your own. And as a developer, you are constantly making ongoing routine changes. Enter SiteManager! The TextManager component of the service is what you need. TextManager delivers its content in one of two ways:
The second step of the process requires making a minimal change to the applet description HTML file. You must change the data portion of the applet from a strict text, to an XML call to SiteManager. The XML call requests the desired textual content, and delivers it to the browser as if it was typed at the keyboard. The browser will never know the difference. But now, users have a way to update scrolling text or annouce new promotions as often as desired, without the need to use a web expert's time to run the day-to-day activities of the business. |
