SiteManager: An Excellent Tool To Manage MultiLingual Sites. Technology White Paper By: Cayetana C. Farhat Whether creating sites that speak Français, Español, Italiano, Português,... or any language that uses the Latin Alphabet, SiteManager may be the tool for you. It is often very complex to cater to clients and customers in different languages. Creating a bilingual web site often involves the creation of two independent sites with independent content and independent managers. Some of the separation does serve a purpose since presenting ideas to different cultures may involve a different process. But what about content that must be similar or at least equivalent? Trying to cater to multiple languages at once exponentially expands this problem. This is where SiteManager can help. SiteManager uses a very complex database to store and move information. The database is configured to accept text using Latin characters. For multi-lingual content, the process is as follows:
Now, here is where it gets really interesting. Often, different dialects of the same language use different words and linguistic constructs to convey the same information. Imagine being able to use a native of the country (regarless of their location in the world) to create a well located content. Deliver Canadian French in Quebequois, deliver Mexican Spanish using the Mexican dialect, deliver European Spanish in Catellano, and so on... |
